From the tough breeding ground of the Munmorah Maulers Junior Rugby League Club, Mark O’Meley emerged as one of rugby league’s most respected and feared front-rowers.
In Part One, “Ogre” reflects on becoming a Dad at the age of 16, his journey from the Central Coast to the NRL, bursting onto the scene with the North Sydney Bears before becoming a premiership winner with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in 2004.
He speaks candidly about being told he was never good enough, as well as his stunning State of Origin debut, and he names his Best 17 that he played with or against.
His career also included stints with the Sydney Roosters and Hull FC, along with 10 appearances for New South Wales and 15 Tests for Australia.
